The current paid family and medical leave proposal, a for-profit model that involves private insurance companies, does not give workers the protections that we need.
Throughout my 20 year career, I have taken multiple leaves of absence due to my son’s chronic illness and need a paid family and medical leave program that is portable and without a waiting period. Any waiting period for employees to begin to access this benefit would be harmful to single parents like myself who have children with chronic illnesses, as well as those with intermittent flare-ups or emergencies.
Coloradans deserve a paid family and medical leave program that benefits all of us and can be used by those who need it most.
